For love of the kids, and for love of the game,  AYBA has created an affordable, accessible program

that enables the youth of Ascension Parish to enjoy the fun of basketball!

HOW IT WORKS

Teams

Teams are either ALL girls, or ALL boys. 

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

• Teams are grouped according to age. by calendar year. Starting at 6 years old (no children under 6). 
• We have programs for Under 8 yrs; Under 10 yrs; Under 12 yrs, Under 14 yrs; and Under 16 yrs.
• There is a draft for new registrants and all kids moving up to a new age category (under 8's are exempt from the draft).

Proof of age is required for all new registrants (a copy of child's birth certificate).

• Maximum of 10 children per team. 
• All children must play at least 2 quarters, every game.  
• The under 8's games consist of a skills section and a playing section.
• Each team has a volunteer coach, and if possible, an assistant volunteer coach. 
• You may register your child for a team at whichever school you prefer to play. Practices take place at this school.

 Registration

Cost per child, per season is $80, payable during online registration. Fees include jersey and shorts for each registrant.

REGISTRATION: 10/17-10/31

Games & Practices

• Practices are scheduled to start mid December.
• Games will start January 10th, 2019
• Games are played every Saturday, January-March, at the host school gyms.
• Practices are arranged one or more evenings per week at the "home" school gym.
• Practice schedules are arranged by the coach and gym commissioner.

YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY YOUR CHILD'S COACH WHEN THEY ARE READY TO BEGIN THEIR PRACTICES. 

WHO WE ARE

President-Carl Siener

Carl has been the driving force behind AYBA for over 30 years.  A former LSU basketball player under both Press Maravich and Dale Brown, Carl is giving back to the sport he loves, by volunteering countless hours. 

Vice President, Gym operations-Ronald Williams

Ronald has been a dedicated AYBA volunteer for 25 years. He has coached his own sons in the progam, been the St. Amant co-ordinator, and continues to remain involved, in charge of gym operations.

Administrator- Jane Siener

Jane is the wife of president, Carl Siener. A former coach, she is the administrator of the AYBA website and the online registration program. 

GYM COMMISSIONERS

Dutchtown: Cassi Harris

We are heart broken to announce that Ms. Sondra Harris passed away this summer and her initials, SH will be on all AYBA uniforms to honor her 25 years running this gym.  Her daughter, Cassi - a former player in the program - has taken over.  

St. Amant: JJ & Megan Quigley

JJ is a former player and both he and Megan have coached in the league for several years and are dedicated volunteers to our program.
